New Delhi: Bob Dylan, while on his Long Hot Summer Tour, is making headlines as two of his longtime band members have quit the band. First, electric guitarist Doug Lancio, and now Brad Britt.
Fans became curious about Britt’s sudden departure from the band after he posted Facebook, “Sayonara Bobby,” leaving Dylan without a guitarist.
While Britt did not initially respond to fans’ queries, in another Facebook post, he shared that he would like to clarify that he was not fired but left the band of his own accord, and the reason will remain private with him.
“I will miss my band mates and crew. I am looking forward to getting back to doing sessions (give me a call) and also finishing up Etta’s gospel record,” he wrote.
“As far as any touring goes, we will see what the future holds. Meanwhile, I have some flower beds to weed,” he added.
Whereas Lancio’s absence was first reported in the Los Angeles Times review of Dylan’s 17 June show in Santa Barbara, California. And in his place, Grammy-nominated jazz guitarist Julian Lage performed at the concert and every gig since. However, it is still unclear if he is a permanent part of Dylan’s band or a temporary fill-in.
Meanwhile, Dylan’s Long Hot Summer Tour continues at a packed schedule, with concerts lined up across the United States. The next show is on 2 July and the last one on 1 August. It remains unclear who will become Dylan’s permanent lead guitarist. As the tour moves forward, all eyes will be on whether the legendary singer announces another lineup change or continues with a rotating cast of guitarists.
