New Delhi: As the Cockroach Janta Party continues its protest over the NEET paper leak, Zee5 appears to be backing the issue with its upcoming original series The Scam: Leaked.
The one-minute promo, released on 22 July, begins with a high-security printing press where exam papers are sealed in “Confidential” envelopes, packed into boxes, and loaded into a van. The papers are then passed from one person to another, with the leak spreading through smartphones.
The promo then shifts to a newsroom reporting on the chaos surrounding the paper leak before cutting to an empty classroom and finally to a room where a phone flashes “Papa Calling” as a student is seen hanging from a ceiling fan.
“One paper, millions of dreams. One leak. A nation in disbelief,” the caption read. No information is available yet regarding the series’ director, cast or release date.
While the series does not mention that it is based on true events, it centres on a medical entrance paper leak and explores how such leaks operate and the larger system surrounding them.
The promo comes days after the Sansad Chalo march on Monday, where thousands of people participated in protests over the alleged NEET paper leak.
The announcement also comes shortly after Zee5’s controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj. The film, which premiered on 3 July, was taken down within two days of its release. On 11 July, it was also removed from international markets.
Despite the takedown, Satluj continued to circulate across the country and was screened at gurdwaras and other venues. While Zee5 criticised these unauthorised screenings, Dosanjh repeatedly urged viewers during his live sessions to watch the film wherever it was available.
