Kolkata, Sep 25 (PTI) Munish Jhajharia has been elected president of the Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), while Parthiv Neotia took over as president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), according to an official statement.
Neotia is the MD of Ambuja Neotia Healthcare Venture Ltd, while Jhajharia is an entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in real estate development and architectural materials manufacturing in Eastern India, it said.
Keshav Bhajanka, Executive Director of Century Ply, was elected senior vice president of the ICC, while Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and MD of Vikram Solar Ltd, was named vice president.
Neotia said his endeavour would be to strengthen the chamber’s role as a bridge for business, fostering trade, growth and collaboration between Indian enterprises and global partners, while giving due importance to the Sustainable Development Goals.
“As India stands at the intersection of rapid economic growth and historic youth dividend, my endeavour would be to strengthen manifold the chamber’s role as the bridge for business,” he said. PTI BSM RBT
