A month later, it seems that the much-acclaimed first step of disengagement at LAC was only a stand-alone agreement to enable both China and India to claim victory.
Freedom House and V-Dem are no gold standards of democracy rating. But Jaishankar must know that just pointing out Western hypocrisy won’t cover India’s reality.
If the tensions between the US and China continue to simmer and transform into a full-blown ‘Cold War’, Hong Kong would be at the heart of the rivalry between the two powers.
The LDF rule in Kerala has never seen such a personality cult built around the chief minister. Critics have even compared Pinarayi Vijayan to Narendra Modi.
India is seen as a vital element in Indo-Pacific strategy, but it is the only country, besides to a limited extent Japan, which militarily confronts China.
The proposed amendment to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code aims to reduce timelines and provide for a mechanism that involves minimal interaction with the court. It fails on both counts.
Cooperation Ministry takes a step towards financial inclusion with Sahkar DigiPay and Sahkar DigiLoan. They will enable faster and seamless access to financial services in small towns.
Bihar is blessed with a land more fertile for revolutions than any in India. Why has it fallen so far behind then? Constant obsession with politics is at the root of its destruction.
Looks like someone is paid to go against india.pathetic article is nothing but docile, sad and smells of being a coward is better than fighting. Pls ignore
No. The Chinese withdrawal has not been done. They have to completely leave all the areas they occupied a bit by bit and leave the depth area also. …….. Yes General Sahib…… only a few months back you were arguing against vacating the Kailash heights and now you somehow you have concluded that Chinese have completely vacated…….. not true.
Makes me wonder, if somebody is paying you to switch your views.
There shouldn’t be any hesitation in accepting Chinese money especially on our own terms. Let them invest via the FDI route and get entrenched in India. This gives us an additional lever to control them with while fulfilling our capital requirements.
No military strategist worth his salt will care about this misfit Panag’s foresight and visualization that tantamount to garbage. Hope no publisher is paying this fool for his unworthy articles.
Pussy footing is the method being used by the MEA and it’s allied ministries.
One should learn to keep a warmth in relations with small neighbours like Nepal
The so called “strategic settlement” at Pangong Tso was critical for the ruling dispensation in light of the forthcoming assembly elections. Nothing that this government does is without an eye on garnering votes. It is this country’s misfortune that we have had to deal with a weak and corrupt government previously and then when we do elect a strong one, it is guided by petty minded, election driven, lying people who have compromised our sovereignty. History will catch up with them too.
So, the Chinese got the better of India militarily once again now. and took another 1000-odd sq. km. more of our territory than they had already grabbed in 1962. And we managed to get them to back off 7-8 sq. km. in Pangong Tso and are claiming victory to console ourselves. Meanwhile they continue to arm Pakistan, legitimize Pakistan’s control over Kashmir via CPEC, block India from the UNSC and NSG. And we are to resume economic cooperation i.e. sell them raw materials and import finished goods, like in the days of the East India Company. Shame on us.
If India is to virtually accept the 1959 claim line in Ladakh, then China has to be forced to accept Zhou en Lai’s formula that Arunachal as defined by the Mc Mahon line is then a part of India.
After 1962 war, and end of Nehru’s Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai era, I don’t think there has been any love between India and China. So it is not love-hate relationship, but being indifferent-hate.
Having held command in this region, the writer knows the facts best. Nothing for anyone to contradict. But, why does he end his article with a negative note?
It’s so confusing that our people will choose a prime minister who couldn’t even protect India’s physical integrity and gave up without a fight, is so popular.
We are blind to the tune of religion and incompetence of the opposition is the cherry on the cake.
Still disappointing.
I am a regular reader of Lt Get Panag’s articles. Always thoughtful and has depth in its analysis. However I think here he is being too cynical. I can see he is frustated by BJP’s nincompoopness; deservedly so based on Modi’s handling of affairs till now.
However I’m optimistic in thinking that BJP will be “once bitten twice shy”. It will never be the same again after Galwan. Even cosmetically. Because if BJP starts showing love to China, Cong will attack it and vice-versa. Also I wish Cong grew some tooth in its attack over Modi. This “Shunyata” bullshit won’t do. Right now, India needs an Indira not a clawless RaGa.
