Soli Sorabjee is a respected legal luminary but his views in the matter are disappointing and I think they show his soft corner for the BJP. How else could he view Governor’s action in two parts? He faults the grant of 15 days time and upholds the invitation to BJP to form Govt in Karnataka? Both of them together make one decision and together they are a give away of Governor Vala’s bias.
When BSY staked claim to form Government he did not have sufficient free floating numbers to tap. There were only two independent MLAs who could be legally/validly wooed. Others belonged to the two coalition parties who had also staked claim. It was clear as a daylight that an invitation to BSY was an open invitation to break the said two parties. Can a Governor indulge in it without inviting any adverse view? Law is not really ass, the practitioners turn it into one, many times. Sorabjee sir, couldn’t respect you for this view, so sorry.
