They’re already protected from wage cuts and lay-offs, unlike the private sector. The bonus at taxpayer expense is wrong. Everybody must sacrifice in this economy and fiscal distress.

The Election Commission is right to warn political parties against holding large public rallies during Bihar campaign, defying its Covid-related social distancing conditions. The onus lies with top leaders of parties, but the poll body must also ensure that the state administration stops looking the other way and takes action.
