Supreme Court’s anguish over “hate speech” during debates on TV news channels is understandable. But to ask the government to make a law to curb it is overreach. The rise in hate speech in India is due to the pervasive politics of hate. TV debates only mirror that unfortunate reality.

Trudeau denouncing Russian plebiscite but allowing Khalistan referendum at home shows hypocrisy
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s passionate denunciation of Russia’s referendum in occupied Ukraine would be more persuasive if he’d also condemned the faux-plebiscite Khalistanis are conducting in Canada. Both plebiscites are efforts to destabilise sovereign States. Trudeau’s polemic about international-law principles has only highlighted his unprincipled appeasement of his pro-Khalistan supporters.
