Karnataka’s Congress-JD(S) government was an unnatural alliance from day one. Their drubbing in the general elections merely underlines that fact. Their political manoeuvring to stay afloat and BJP’s efforts to poach MLAs is only hurting governance. Congress-JD(S) should end this doomed marriage, dissolve the assembly and seek a fresh vote.

Given the mood of Kannadigas, as reflected in the general election, the alliance would be swept over the Jog Falls. 2. Shri Deve Gowda could have been a sort of Mentor Minister, to both the government and the coalition arrangement. He could have served as Chairman of the Coordination Committee. It seems former CM has also not been a benign influence. Difficult to predict how long the government will survive. If the BJP has someone superior to BSY, that would be good for the state.
