Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari’s suggestion to revise and bring uniformity in speed limits is judicious. Arbitrary fixing of speed with often unnoticeable, if not missing, signboards leads to harassment of drivers. Upward revision of limits on multi-lane highways and expressways, without compromising on safety, is worth considering.
