Mahendra Singh Dhoni erred by wearing the Special Forces insignia on his gloves, even if his intentions were innocent. Military and nationalistic symbols, other than what is approved on team attire, should be kept out of international sports. Champion sportsmen must confine their battles and nationalism to their sporting skills.

  1. There is so much bad blood between the two countries. On the few occasions when they intersect on something as pleasant as sport, keep the rancour out. Was very happy to see servicemen exchanging sweets at the border for Idd, to be followed by Diwali. One hopes the practice of the two premiers sending each other mangoes continues as well.
