The spat between Delhi and Himachal police over the arrest of three Youth Congress workers was unseemly and unedifying for uniformed services. Routine procedural action turned into a public spectacle. Policing must remain insulated from political considerations, especially at a time when polarisation is straining an already fraught Centre-state fabric.
