Odisha and West Bengal must be commended for greatly minimising loss of lives due to Cyclone Yaas, evacuating 21.5 lakh people to safety. Odisha has nearly perfected its response to cyclones and Bengal seems to be learning after Amphan. The next level would be to similarly protect infrastructure and property.

President Biden’s order for an investigation to establish coronavirus’s origin is wise. This needs to be nailed conclusively. China’s intransigence and refusal to be transparent will be a hurdle. But the world will be better off even if this probe is reasonably closer to an answer than it is now.

Delhi HC’s order to remove a judgment from online platforms to protect an individual’s right to be forgotten brings closer a concept that’s statutory in some Western jurisdictions. This right cannot be absolute. It has to square with RTI and transparency. A clear framework’s needed as the internet becomes all-encompassing.
