British PM Boris Johnson’s cancellation means India may have a Republic Day parade without a chief guest for the first time since 1966. Pranab Mukherjee’s silence on Rahul Gandhi in new book telling, instructive for Congress

Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s near-silence about Rahul Gandhi in his memoirs speaks volumes about his opinion of the latter’s abilities. 1. They can still have a chief guest, only it would not be a foreigner…They could, for a bit of glad-handing, invite TMC Supremo, The Didi, as Chief guest.

  2. If the Republic Day parade did not exist, New India would have created one. Celestial Event Management blending seamlessly with a new martial spirit that pervades the land.

  3. A government of averages … Pranabda at his incisive, acerbic best. While his last tenure as FM is not recalled with any particular nostalgia, he had the political experience to have guided UPA II to a more normal electoral outcome, not the fireball it became. With the Congress reduced to such a wreck, 2019 was as disastrous as 2014, not qualifying for LoP status in the Lok Sabha. 2. As far as Mr Rahul Gandhi is concerned, Smt Sonia Gandhi, allowing for maternal affection, ought to have been amongst the first to realise that this bird will not fly.
