India can appeal WTO’s ruling saying it is violating tariff agreements on certain items. However, the main issue remains that India took three years to notice errors in its international tariff schedule, which led to the dispute. This delay is frankly embarrassing considering it’s an issue of such international visibility.

By all estimates, it was inevitable that India would become the most populous country in the world, surpassing China, as UN has now confirmed. But these numbers cannot be left unexamined.
