A special note of commendation for the lower courts which are dealing with these cases. Grant / denial of bail is their judicial judgment and prerogative. They cannot be unmindful of the facts of the case, the law as it applies, the asymmetry of power. Their passivity emboldens the executive. The survivor who was arrested was not allowed to wear her chappals, even visit the toilet. A nauseating stench that one can smell from a thousand miles away.
