According to latest estimates, 60 per cent of 4.03 crore voters in Gujarat are under 40. Of these, 12 lakh are new and first-time voters, as per ECI data.

Like many parts of the country, the youth are a key constituency in Gujarat too. No political party can afford to ignore the latest estimates – that 60 per cent of Gujarati voters are under 40 years of age.

In next month’s assembly polls, a cache of 12 lakh new and first-time voters will join the voter base, as per the final data compiled by the Election Commission of India.

The total voter base in the state is 4.33 crore, including 2.07 crore women, and 688 persons of the ‘third gender’.

ThePrint takes a look at the demographics of these new voters.
