During postmortem few points mentioned by many to be pondered are: Farmers dissatisfaction; conflict in Manipur; unemployment; inflation, corruption; opposition to NEET, Agnipath, Reservation policy, overcrowding/over population in urban areas, etc. Fine. Now, how country should go-ahead now? When there is a crisis, one should sink the differences and work together. Priority should be national welfare from all angles. One should learn from the past, present and work together towards future. Academicians, Think tanks, Journalists, Administrators etc should work committedly, coherently and create due awareness to different target groups of the vast and diverse population of the country  and to politicians. Country is vast and complex with high social heterogeneity with respect to different parameters. As per a google site there are 2,500 castes and 30,000 sub-castes. 6 national parties, 57 regional parties, 2764 unrecognised political parties. Natural for Ghatbandhans and Mahaghatbandhans ! Geographically, there are 28 states and 8 UTs and in each demographics vary. Therefore, there is a need for custom-made, tailor-made studies and solutions/ All reports and data be available on public domain.

Five key portfolios are with veterans –Defence, finance, external affairs, home, roadways. With a rich experience of two tenures their contribution this time should be an applauding one by all. To say in a cryptic manner, country should be self-sufficient in defence as any imports would drain the treasury.  Together with external affairs national security and good international relations should be maintained. Good internal law and order and good infrastructure and review of toll taxes. overcrowding/over population in urban areas, reasons for migration be analysed. With respect to farmers issues particularly in relation to MSP (Minimum Support Price) be taken up at the earliest for due implementation. In this regard many happened to point out overlooking of Swaminathan’s report. As it is old (2004-06) this report may be freshly analysed by another competent committee. Education and Science & Technology are two vital inputs for the development of the society. Hence, this sector should be in perfect order and free from politics, corruption, complicated administrative system or any other internal problems. In other sectors also administrative system should be simplified and transparent. Even class four employees can be happy if Indian currency is strong. Known fact there is limited water resources. Hence, water utilisation and recycling of waste water and desalinisation of water resources, rain water harvesting should be focussed. This year heat wave was so much and still continuing but no attempt has been made to harvest solar energy -a goal which was there since long. Hope next year and so attempts would be made.
