Prevalent greening is dominated with phrases like Plantation Drives, Van Mahotsav, Green Action Plan, Launching Progress Portal, overlooking essentials like species selection, greening for reduced energy, water conservation, environment protection and ecosystems restoration.
As an example, planting Chinar and Cherry Blossoms suitable for geo locations like Kashmir and Japan on Yamuna plains.
The trees listed on Delhi Government’s green portal are neither helping in Delhi’s energy and water views nor enough to improve biodiversity, eco balance and year-round micro-climate of Delhi.
Delhi needs dense layered greening by native canopy trees, shrubs, grasses and herbs to regulate temperature, conserve water, control pollution, reduce pH & electric conductivity, improve year round microclimate, eco balance, health of the soil, organic carbon, potassium, phosphorus, humus depositions and mineralization. Such greening will also halt monkey groups in the Ridge from visiting, raiding the human habitation areas around.
Following is the list compiled by our team of Ecologists, Ethologists, Biologists, Naturalists and Volunteers.

Necessary precautions:
- Plant young trees and not saplings.
- Treat young shoots with natural repellents to deter animals from approaching them.
- Protect young trees by tree guards.
- Undertake trench and batch plantation instead of individual plants to save labor and water utilization.
- Use bio- manure to enrich the soil and if the area has an inherent problem of termites attacking the trees Extensive replacement of topsoil with organic manure mixed with ‘Neem Ki Khali’.
- Dig water holes, make mud bunds and trenches in the green areas for rainwater harvesting and to provide a Ready source of drinking water for animals and birds.
- Increase the population of earthworms, insects including butterflies, bugs, millipedes, solitary wasps, toads, Ground nesting birds, chicks, ducks, falcons, dogs, weasels’ other mammals.
Plantations with a purpose must replace planting anything green in the name of plantation.
