As per the constitution currently we have the definition of the country in 1947 was defined as India that is Bharat. Many Countries around the world are known by more than one name like Germany as Deutschland and UK as Great Britain.
India name has its root at least 2000 years ago which can be referenced in Greek History during Alexander era well documented, while Bharat name is on the Brave King Bharat which comes in the love story of Dushyant and Shakuntala as their only child who finally helped the parents to reunite and later rose to become a great king.
Things which make Bharat as the only name in future is that it is originally a Sanskrit word more rooted to the ancient history of the land while India is a given name not by the natives originally.
One interesting survey if ever done in near future by any agency where if asked every temple goer to name all the 1008 name of God Vishnu or 108 Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh , Goddess Parvati name or at least tell in total all the lords have total how many names we may get a real data of how many religious tourist know their past and how well.
On the other hand, if we ask the young citizens of the country do they want to bring the old original name Bharat back or want to give it a new name like “Mahaan Bharat” just like we have name Great Britain as one accepted name when UK is referred.
Usually, we have seen in developed and matured transparent democracy a referendum is called to decide which way to go just like few years ago Brexit was done by UK to move out of European Union. Current India vs Bharat can also be a good point for a Young Nation to decide through referendum which way to move ahead, in smart phone era it can be done in just 1 day.
We are any way sure even if no referendum happens the next Lok Sabha in 2024 results will very much tell us if country swings in favour of I.N.D.I.A alliance ( UPA+) or NDA Alliance ( Bhartiya Janta Party +) thus will tell us how the masses think broadly & what they want.
Usually, it is said old people look & think too much about past and young people usually can only think about future as they hardly had much past. Whether one of the Young Nation India i.e Bharat with an average age of 28 will decide to choose an old name rooted in history or relatively a new name just couple of thousands years old, one thing is sure this young nation since 1947 but the oldest civilization on earth has a great future and where on every Diwali both Goddess Lakshmi ( Wealth) & Goddess Sarasvati (Knowledge) are worshipped along with Lord Ganesha is all set for as a Mahaan Bharat by its youth energy and seniors wisdom.
