The headline was clear, bold and provocative; “Ravi Ruia buys London mansion for IRS 1200 Crore”. Shifting through the details, The Family Office of the Ruia, who co-owns Essar Group, purchased the Hanover Lodge mansion overlooking Regent Park at 150 Park Road, in the United Kingdom.

This news item instantly kindled by imagination to explore the mansion. With the help of the digital treasure house – YouTube, I saw the palatial mansion built around 1827, and home to royalty, which was recently owned by Andrew Goncharenko, a Russian billionaire. This short sojourn satiated my digital desires!

With an urge to seek the “next best thing” digital surfing has been the norm. While some cravings cannot be fulfilled, but the web is able to cater to our need of “what if”. This endless hope of fulfilling our deep desires, is the cause of endless browsing of social media channels.

What would be life in the playground of the rich and famous like Monaco? With an area of around 2 sq.km on the French Riviera, it is the second smallest sovereign state and with the mild climate, beautiful scenery and gambling houses have contributed to the principality’s importance as a tourist destination and recreation centre for the super-rich. With around 38,000 residents, the principality
can probably boast of the highest number of billionaires. And your fantasies can run riot, viewing the rich driving their swanky cars through the beautiful narrow streets of Monaco. Yes, for a short time span you can transform to a “make believe” world of the rich!

How is life of a normal person that immigrates to a developed world such as Canada? There are a number of video bloggers that provide us a purview of the beautiful roads, different type of residential houses, facilities in the houses and the stunning surroundings. Also, a tour of the super market offers a glimpse of the groceries, meat and fish products which brings about inevitably a comparison with India.

Your fantasy can be further expanded if your interest encompasses interior decoration, cars, apparels and plants/flowers which you can share with other members of the group. In short, you cansurf the digital space through various Apps/website to quench your yearnings.

With the prevalence of smart phones surfing to enlarge your imaginations is becoming common. It is also a democratization tool, that allows all strata of society to digitally mine the space of your liking.

Whatever you want to explore, based on your longing, the whole universe is available to you to fantasize. Happy digital browsing!
