Hockey India is doing a great job in spreading the sports far and wide in this country. At the same time there is a need for introspection particularly when we look at the on going Sub Junior Men Nationals at Rourkela.

Even as  Top class facilities have been given to the young talent across the Country thanks to the Govt of Odisha, prime sponsors of the game, several State teams that have turned up are found wanting in many aspects.

Just take the Example of Tripura.. in their match against Chandigarh the team had received 42 goals, while in the next match with Delhi the tally is 54 goals. Remember hockey is played for 60 minutes only.

One may argue, that Tripura is just coming up etc.. But take the larger aspect.. the players of this caliber also gets his Form 2 as recognition for having “played “ at the Nationals and is equal with other better players. This score line takes me to yester years in a Football tournament where such “Goal Mal“ took place and the Federation was pulled up by the Govt and many things happened. Hockey India should immediately get its act right and look into this and take suitable action.
