The two discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues, including security, stability, economic growth, and development. In a press release, the Foreign Minister’s office said that Dodds also raised concerns about the ongoing conflicts in Amhara and Oromia, and called on all parties to engage in peaceful dialogue.
This is Dodds’ first visit to the region as Minister of State for International Development and Women & Equalities. She also previously visited South Sudan. The UK Minister for International Development and Women & Equalities, Anneliese Dodds, visited Ethiopia yesterday. This visit is a clear indication of the UK’s commitment to its partnership with Ethiopia.
The Minister also discussed efforts to end the conflict in Sudan during a meeting with representatives of Sudanese political parties and civil society in Ethiopia. The Foreign Minister’s office said that Dodds also met with African Union Commissioner Bankole Adeoye to discuss peace and security issues across the continent. This included Sudan, South Sudan, and Somalia.
