In a move to support Ukraine’s hospitals, the UK government has donated £2 million worth of medical equipment, including ventilators, oxygen concentrators, pumps, and monitors. The ventilators, oxygen concentrators, suction pumps, patent monitors, volumetric pumps, and heated humidifiers, will be used to treat patients in 60 intensive care beds.
The UK government says that the medical equipment is urgently needed in Ukraine, and will help in the immediate treatment of people suffering from severe injuries and illnesses caused by the Russian invasion of the country. The donation package was requested by the Ukrainian Minister of Health, and has been facilitated by the Department of Health and Social Care.
The first batch of medical equipment and supplies from the UK has already been delivered to Ukraine, and consists of over 11 million items of medical equipment and medicines. The UK government has also pledged an additional £357 million in humanitarian aid to support Ukraine, and has committed to providing medical supplies and basic necessities to all those affected by the conflict.
The UK is one of several countries providing military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, and the government is determined to continue its support as the conflict continues.
