Sri Lanka, Malta deepen ties

Ahead of 25th Anniversary of diplomatic partnership, Malta's High Commissioner met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister in Colombo.

New Delhi: High Commissioner Reuben Gauci of Malta to Sri Lanka, based in New Delhi, made a courtesy visit to Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya in Colombo.


The meeting Tuesday focused on reaffirming the commitment of both nations to strengthening bilateral relations as they approach the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic partnership in 2025, a Sri Lankan government release stated.

During the discussion, High Commissioner Gauci emphasized Malta’s dedication to enhancing collaboration with Sri Lanka.  Prime Minister Amarasuriya acknowledged the opportunities for increased cooperation, particularly in the IT and tourism sectors. She highlighted Sri Lanka’s reputation as a premier tourist destination and emphasized the importance of creating employment opportunities within these sectors.
