New Delhi: The Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, will welcome his Solomon Islands counterpart, Jeremiah Manele, to Australia from 23-29 June 2024, the first official international visit of Manele since he took office in May 2024.
The two leaders will discuss opportunities to further strengthen their bilateral relations, including security partnerships, economic development, labour mobility pathways, and infrastructure cooperation, during a visit that will include meetings at Parliament House and travel to Queensland for Manele to see how the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme is benefitting both Solomon Islands and Australia.
The visit will mark the second meeting of the two leaders, who also attended the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in November 2023. Albanese says he looks forward to welcoming Manele to Australia, adding that their government is committed to listening and working with Solomon Islands as equals, and to discussing how we can deepen our partnership into a new era of cooperation.
“We highly value our position as Solomon Islands’ partner of choice,” the Prime Minister said.
