New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, India’s largest mobility expo, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi Friday. The expo, significantly larger than last year’s event, spans three venues in the National Capital Region, highlighting the burgeoning interest in India’s mobility sector, a PIB release stated.

Addressing the gathering, Modi emphasized the Indian auto industry’s growth, stating that it grew by nearly 12% in the past year, with exports fueled by the “Make in India and Make for the World” mantra. He highlighted the significance of the sector, noting that the number of cars sold annually in India surpasses the population of many countries. The prime minister also expressed his confidence in the sector’s future, stating that the automotive industry of India is “fantastic and future-ready.”

He outlined several factors driving the future of mobility in India, including the large youth population, expanding middle class, rapid urbanization, infrastructure development, and the affordability of vehicles driven by the “Make in India” initiative. He emphasized that India is poised to become one of the world’s top three economies, further propelling the growth of its auto market.

Modi underscored the government’s commitment to developing a robust infrastructure to support the growing mobility needs. He cited the allocation of ₹11 lakh crore for infrastructure development in the last budget, highlighting the construction of multi-lane highways and expressways across the country. He also mentioned the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan’s role in enhancing multimodal connectivity and reducing logistics costs, the release added.
