New Delhi: The Albanese government has announced that it will invest an additional $100 million to save the Great Barrier Reef Aquarium in Townsville, an Australian government press release stated.

The investment will allow the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority to build a new purpose-built facility to provide immersive experiences to visitors.

The total investment in the project will now reach $180 million. The new facility will showcase the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem, provide an interactive experience for visitors, and promote the importance of reef conservation. “The additional investment will enable the marine park authority to deliver a new purpose-built facility that will deliver global excellence in tropical reef education and provide immersive experiences attracting domestic and international visitors,” the release added.
