NATO allies commit to increased defence spending

In a joint statement with the Secretary General of NATO, President Biden welcomed the steps that the NATO Allies are taking to support Ukraine.

Members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will increase defence spending to 2 percent of gross domestic product, a more than two-fold increase since President Biden took office, the Biden administration announced on Monday.

In a joint statement with the Secretary General of NATO, President Biden welcomed the steps that the NATO Allies are taking to support Ukraine and to deepen partnerships, including in the Indo-Pacific region.

The President and the Secretary-General also discussed the significant progress that has been made in the defense spending of the Allies.
