New Delhi: The United States has designated Kenya as a major non-NATO ally for arms exports to the country, a White House press statement said Monday.

The decision brings Kenya under the Arms Export Control Act of the US, allowing the delivery of arms to the country for what the Act calls “legitimate self-defence”.
According to the statement, the designation of Kenya as a major non-NATO ally will enhance cooperation and boost trade and investment between the two countries.Kenya’s designation as a major non-NATO ally will also strengthen the US’s security presence in the region, added Biden’s statement.
