Indian national arrested with illegal foreign currency and gold in Nepal

Kathmandu, Jun 25 (PTI) A 33-year-old Indian national has been arrested in Kathmandu along with illegal foreign currency, gold and silver pieces, officials said on Thursday.

A special team of police acting upon a tip-off arrested Amit Irgonda Ghali, a resident of Jharkhand, from his rented room at Thahiti, Kathmandu, on Tuesday, police said.

During a raid carried out at his rented room, the police recovered NRs. 730,000 and US dollar 34,500 in cash, along with 17 pieces of gold weighing 75 grams and 2 kg 600 grams of silver, police said.

He has been handed over to the Revenue Investigation Department, Hariharbhavan, Lalitpur district, for further investigation. PTI AMS
