(Reuters) – Gunfire was heard on Wednesday evening near the presidency in Chad’s capital N’Djamena, two residents said, confirming an AFP report in a social media post on X.

Convoys of military vehicles were seen driving towards the presidency, one resident said.

AFP, citing a security source, said armed men had attacked the interior of the presidential compound.

However, authorities made no immediate comment.
