BRASILIA, April 14 (Reuters) – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Tuesday called on former intelligence chief Alexandre Ramagem, who was detained by ICE in the United States the previous day, to return to Brazil to serve a coup-plotting prison sentence.

“I believe Ramagem will come back to Brazil, he has to come back to serve his sentence,” Lula said in an interview with a local outlet.

The U.S. agency reported on its website on Monday that Ramagem was in its custody, without providing details, after he fled Brazil in September following his conviction for plotting a coup with ex-President Jair Bolsonaro.
