SAO PAULO, March 8 (Reuters) – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, known as Lula, underwent his annual medical checkup on Saturday morning at Sao Paulo’s Sirio-Libanes Hospital and all test results were normal, the hospital said on Sunday.

Lula will receive routine followup care with his medical team, led by cardiologist Roberto Kalil Filho and physician Ana Helena Germoglio, the hospital said in a statement, adding there are currently no plans for additional exams.

Lula, 80, said in 2025 that he plans to seek reelection later this year. In 2024, he underwent two operations to relieve and prevent bleeding in his skull. He has been Brazil’s president two times – from 2003 to 2010, and again since January 2023.
