New Delhi: President Biden met with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob at the White House Tuesday. The two leaders engaged in a comprehensive discussion covering a spectrum of significant foreign policy issues, a US government release stated.
President Biden expressed his profound gratitude for Slovenia’s pivotal role in facilitating the historic release of three American citizens, along with an American green card holder and Pulitzer Prize laureate, who were unjustly detained in Russia. This included 12 other human rights defenders and political dissidents.
The leaders went on to discuss the robust cooperation between the United States and Slovenia in the areas of clean energy and advanced technologies. Furthermore, they addressed their shared commitment to a coordinated approach in the Western Balkans, a region of strategic importance for both nations.
Reaffirming their unwavering support for Ukraine, President Biden and Prime Minister Golob condemned Russia’s aggression and discussed the latest developments in the region. The two leaders emphasized the urgent need for a diplomatic solution to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, prioritizing the safe return of civilians to their homes on both sides of the Blue Line.
