A study by UN University finds that women legislators in India raise economic performance in their constituencies by about 1.8 percentage points per year more than male legislators.
Over generations, Bihar’s bane has been its utter lack of urbanisation. But now, even Bihar is urbanising. Or let’s say, rurbanising. Two decades under Nitish Kumar have created a new elite in its cities.
Indian govt officials last month skipped Turkish National Day celebrations in Delhi, in a message to Ankara following its support for Islamabad, particularly during Operation Sindoor.
Bihar is blessed with a land more fertile for revolutions than any in India. Why has it fallen so far behind then? Constant obsession with politics is at the root of its destruction.
Maha bakwas. One can understand politicians being obsessed with SC/ST since they want their votes, but why should Indian media be obsessed with SC/ST? Everyone is struggling and working to make ends meet. There is no evidence that any one is having any special difficulty in earning a decent livelihood. Indian media must get out of the SCST fixation. Most of the articles are thinly disguised efforts to incite hate against the ordinary class Hindus.
Data analysis is one thing, but when Rahul lost to Smriti is not SC. Young honest and well educated don’t want to contest elections due to reservation politics plus money and criminals in the field. How Meira Kumar daughter of ex defense minister is SC or ST? Why she can’t fight on general category?
Reservation has outlived and requires some qualification criteria for candidates to contest, like no criminal back ground at all based on charge sheet in SC or proven cases against candidates. Some basic education criteria too needs to be established, as it is there for lowest government job. How ignorant elected MP can bring constructive ideas let alone better living for an IAS officer like DM?
MPs are required to work with official for better life of voters not to be road blocks. No elected MP should be allowed to interfere with administration of his/her constituency if officer is not corrupt or not doing job based on rules/laws.
This analysis seems to be a case of statistical hair splitting to make it seem plausible. Quite simply let us celebrate the increase in women’s representation in Parliament, without any reservations (pun intended).
