West Bengal is an Indian state in the eastern part of the country, and the only one in India with an incumbent woman Chief Minister — Mamata Banerjee.
The region, which was the political heart of the Bengal Presidency during British Rule, was divided into East and West Bengal in 1947. Bengal was a hotbed of the Indian Independence movement and has remained one of the country’s great artistic and intellectual centres, being home to Nobel laureates Rabindranath Tagore, Mother Teresa, Amartya Sen and Abhijit Banerjee as well as freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose and Oscar winner Satyajit Ray.
Geographically, the state is happily situated with the Himalayas in the north and the Sundarbans in the south. It shares a roughly 2,200-sqkm border with Bangladesh (East Bengal at the time of Partition).
For the first 30 years, the Congress ruled Bengal, but made way for Left domination for the next 34 years. In 2011, Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress — a breakaway from the Congress — came to power.
I am a communist follower. But in the matter of faith, I believe we shall have a cautious turn around. We shall neither be against faith nor allow the religion and caste to ride over the right of the people. We shall understand the realities, that we shall take a neutral path allowing people with religious faith inside the party. Party shall stop criticising the god and faith and at the same time expose the Pontiffs, Maulanas and Muttt leaders playing their Orchestra using the emotional relation of people with religion. We shall speak more with the open mind.
Extreme RSS hatred of Communists is sure way of their political suffocation and destruction. Their wish to have presence at Hindu religious gatherings is like a cat declaring herself a vegetarian but continue to eat rats. Hindus have a long experience of communists and no gimmick will work with Hindus as
having easy fooling of Muslims by merely showing hatred of RSS.
Communist want to setup only at temples? They don’t have guts to setup at mosques. If the purpose of communism is to encourage secularism, why they want to disturb the environment of temples. What right they have to appoint secular people to manage the temples. Temples must be overseen by the devotees who has their hearts into it, not by atheists. Their agenda is certainly nonsense and dangerous.
