After Trump-Putin talks, no deal on Russia-Ukraine war yet. Indian Ministry of External Affairs reiterates long-held position that only dialogue & diplomacy can end the war.
After a nearly three-hour meeting in Alaska, the two leaders said they had made progress on unspecified issues. But they offered no details & took no questions from media.
The meeting comes just two days before Donald Trump’s visit to Russian President Vladimir Putin, amid EU fears that Ukraine could be pressured into an unfavorable deal.
This comes at a time when things are tense between New Delhi & Washington over additional tariffs imposed on India for purchase of Russian oil, and a day after Modi-Putin phone call.
This is his 1st Moscow visit since Op Sindoor. However, he did attend SCO's NSA meeting in Beijing in June & met Russia’s Security Council Deputy Secretary Aleksandr Venediktov.
