Which world hails ustad Allah Rakhha as Einstein and Picasso of tabla? My God! I hope these columnists wouldn’t try to become conspirators. Perhaps they have been treated to plates of delicious Biryani in Ustad’s descendent’s house! I have been lucky enough to hear Ahmad Jan “thirakwa” and Gudai Maharaj in live performances. I have heard ustad Allah Rakhha live too. I am not an expert on music, but in terms of “sheer instant exhilaration” that one feels in such performances, I would certainly not put the ustad above the other two. I think these columnists should kindly change the name of their article.
