India will assume the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council on 1 August, it's first Presidency during its 2021-22 tenure as a non-permanent member of the 15-nation UN body.
In an in-person meeting, Volkan Bozkir commended efforts of India's permanent representative to the UN, T S Tirumurti, who will be president of the UN Security Council next month.
Speaking at a multilateral forum, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla also said that India values multipolar global order underpinned on respect for sovereignty.
India also reaffirmed its support to the Palestinian cause and the establishment of a sovereign, & independent Palestine state living side by side with Israel.
The Ministry of External Affairs said both sides held bilateral consultations in Moscow Tuesday on issues which are on the agenda of the UN Security Council.
