I personally believe that the Alumni need to be involved materially or otherwise with the activities and development of their alma mater; however, that happens when the Institute Administration and teacher community, the current students and the alums need to have mutual respect for each other and have a degree of communication with each other.
However, for the above to happen, first in the three stakeholders need to have respect and communication with each other.
For the last five years, more so since Prof Jagdesh Kumar is at the helm, the university has been in the news for all the wrong reasons; the Vice-Chancellor has always been seen to be a player and hasn’t acted as head of the family of JNU.
Therefore, I believe that for the alums, except the two ministers in the Union Govt, to come forward and join the JNU in its development, first the Vice-Chancellor has to change at least his attitude.
The Vice-Chancellor better decides to leave the JNU for the above to happen.
