The challenge by Delhi Police comes nearly 15 months after a local Delhi court had discharged the Congress MP in the case linked to the death of his wife, Sunanda Pushkar.
The court says there was 'nothing on record' to prove that Tharoor had acted to 'irritate or annoy Pushkar' till she reacted and took the step of killing herself.
Taking to Twitter, Tharoor said, "This brings a significant conclusion to the long nightmare which had enveloped me after the tragic passing of my late wife Sunanda."
Delhi court's special judge had adjourned the matter for 18 August, while allowing the prosecution to file certain documents which include judgements from the SC and high courts.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor sought discharge in the case, saying there was no evidence against him to prove the offence punishable under either section 498A or 306 of IPC.
The application said the Twitter timeline of Pushkar is important in the case & as she is not alive, there is an apprehension that the account may be deleted.
Delhi High Court said Sunanda Pushkar's tweets were available in the public domain and Shashi Tharoor can access it from there and place it before the trial court.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor had filed a defamation case against Prasad in December 2018 for passing derogatory remarks on his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death.
SEBI probe concluded that purported loans and fund transfers were paid back in full and did not amount to deceptive market practices or unreported related party transactions.
Many really smart people now share the position that playing cricket with Pakistan is politically, strategically and morally wrong. It is just a poor appreciation of competitive sport.
