Finance ministry says the proposed revamp will focus on structural reforms, rate rationalisation & ease of living, & will be deliberated upon in the coming weeks.
The project is meant to be a ‘protective shield that will keep expanding’, the PM said. It is on the lines of the ‘Golden Dome’ announced by Trump, it is learnt.

Simplification of the GST regime would be welcome. More than one slab, although not five, may be necessary. 18% as a singular rate is still on the higher side. May not be required if utopian schemes like minimum income guarantee are not resorted to. The Congress should also get over its über populist instincts like farm waivers.
