Nicely explained with background, it’s the greed only for votes otherwise in the eyes of law they are crooked criminals.Sadly followers want quick solutions so they go to them.
It also shows the breakdown of Orthodox Hindu schools of philosophies in these areas which includes six systems (ṣaḍdarśana) – Samkhya, Yoga, Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Mimamsa and Vedanta. Many people dont want to follow a perticular deity and sampradaya and also there is a history of social oppression on backward communities by dominant Jaat sikhs and Hindus. These deras give them a sense of belonging and power so the are flock towards fancy babas who dont follow Yamas and Niyamas. There is no Hindu matthas in these regions which preserves and disseminates wisdom, rituals, philosophy and tradition.
Hi shekhar , I wish to share a perspective on the question of why so many babas around . I believe the answer liea in the social set up which has plagued the country …. The lower strata of society which have been alienated by upper caste see them as their saviours …. Be it hindu , Sikh or Muslim …. The followers are majorly down trodden for whom that babas are seen as God’s … These people get a sense of quality , free opium n free sex at such places … Less restictuons which make them cult followers …. Yes there are rich n prosperous people other than politicians who also see their vested intrestes as they see instant market for their products services in the followers of these sects …. While we blame the politicians n godmans ..It’s our society which has created them n let them thrive ….
The process of moderation is taking ages …
