Delhi recorded over 7,800 fresh Covid cases for the first time Tuesday, taking the infection tally to over 4.5 lakh, and 83 new fatalities, the highest numbers since 16 June.
Jain also shared a data sheet prepared by the Directorate General of Health Services, according to which, 489 dengue cases have been recorded this year in Delhi till 24 October.
Jain said the government had sufficient stock of Covid testing kits for 10-15 days, but it was procuring more from the market to meet the target of 40,000 tests per day.
The state govt had carried out a similar campaign last year. According to a municipal report, at least 48 malaria and 41 dengue cases have been reported in Delhi till 15 August.
The decision comes after the city government analysed the results of the latest sero-survey which showed that 23 per cent of Delhi had exposure to the novel coronavirus.
Satyendar Jain was tested positive for Covid on 17 June and administered plasma therapy after his condition deteriorated. Sources said his Covid test came out negative Friday.
