The kinds of revisions we’re seeing remove the very skills that make historical thinking meaningful. The result is a citizen who either dismisses history entirely or defends it without support.
Indian toymakers are now exploring new markets, but they want govt to negotiate a trade deal with US soon, introduce incentives and subsidies to make the industry more competitive.
The project is meant to be a ‘protective shield that will keep expanding’, the PM said. It is on the lines of the ‘Golden Dome’ announced by Trump, it is learnt.
Now that both IAF and PAF have made formal claims of having shot down the other’s aircraft in the 87-hour war in May, we can ask a larger question: do such numbers really matter?
I am surprised and scandalised by your scurrilous comment under the heading: “No takers for book in Sanjaya Baru’s honour”. Since, it refers to me and my recent conversation with Shekhar Gupta I lodge this protest and trust this response will be published as prominentyly as the article was.
Firstly, the issues are not related to the film: The Accidental Prime Minister in any way and therefore grossly out of place.
Secondly, in so far as the book is concerned there are former colleagues of Dr Baru and many renowned persons who are contributing to the Festcshrift which include Jagdish Bhagwati; Shyam Saran; Y. V. Reddy; C. Raja Mohan; Ambassador Mohan Kumar, Shakti Sinha; Sachin Chaturvedi; Bob Blackwill; Sergei Karaganov; Micchi Watanabe; Harsha Vardhan Singh etc. The book will be released in May, 2019 when Dr Baru turns 65.
Thirdly, I expected Shekhar to be more mature and circumspect than what he did by reporting in such an ugly manner, alas. Frankly, this is yellow journalism.
