Kejriwal's remarks came a day after Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said the Centre had no proposal to extend distribution of free ration through the PMGKAY beyond 30 November.
PM Modi during a virtual interaction with PM-GKAY beneficiaries in Gujarat further said since 2014, the govt has made the ration system more effective for poor with new technologies.
The court also directed the Centre to keep allocating food grains to the states, UTs for distribution among migrant workers for free till the pandemic situation exists.
PMGKAY was reintroduced for two months until June in order to minimise the economic hardships being faced by the poor PDS beneficiaries during the second wave of the Covid pandemic.
The top court also asked Centre how migrant workers without ration cards will avail free food grain under the 'Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana' till November 2021.
