In Everyday Communalism: Riots in Contemporary Uttar Pradesh, authors Sudha Pai and Sajjan Kumar make a serious attempt to understand the contemporary form of communal politics in India.
The Southeast Asian theatre is central to the Great Power contest between the US and China. It’s also a landscape where middle powers—France, the UK, Turkey—are shaping the strategic environment.
Mini deal will likely see no cut in 10% baseline tariff on Indian exports announced by Trump on 2 April, it is learnt, but additional 26% tariffs are set to be reduced.
Capable of being fired in plain and high-altitude areas, it has day-and-night capability and two-way data link to support post-launch target, aim-point update.
Public, loud, upfront, filled with impropriety and high praise sometimes laced with insults. This is what we call Trumplomacy. But the larger objective is the same: American supremacy.
Mr Mohan Bhagwat is very vociferously pitching for Ram Mandir but I think he means such a mandir “in Ayodhya”, and not “at the demolished Babri Mosque site.” (Unless I missed some part of his speech.) The former will be welcome by ALL, but if he means the latter, that the said Ram Mandir should be built EXACTLY AT THAT SITE, then I see only the following as the logical way out:
Let ANY political party — BJP or Congress or BSP, or any other — fight the 2019 election with this as its MAIN ISSUE, mentioned clearly in its election manifesto. If it wins and forms the government, then this mandir matter will be settled once and for all. In a population of 125 crores, there must be at least 50-60 crore Hindus. There are only 18 crore Muslims. If MAJORITY OF HINDUS vote for that party on this issue, then it’ll definitely win.
RSS is not an elected body of Hindus, so it can not “speaks for Hindus”. It should stop fooling itself and the world. The RSS has SOME Hindus as its members, but MAJORITY of Hindus are NOT its members.
RSS Chief’ Dr.Mohan Bhagwat’s Vijaya Dashmi discourse harping on the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya indeed reflects very clearly that BJP running short of ideas and issues wants to seek shelter now in the name of Lord Rama !
Is Bhagwat ironically finding odds very heavily against BJP led by NaMo not striving to come to the rescue of both !
What is the fate of ploys- Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas, Acche Din, Rs.Fifteen Lakh in every bank account and many more ?
Is it grossly not unfair to use Lord Rama’s name now for petty and hollow politics to muster votes !
Did not BJP led by NaMo betray Lord Rama by not making any attempt in the direction of Ram Temple Construction all these four and half years while in power !
Is playing politics, wooing masses now in the name of Lord Rama is not less than exploiting the God itself for the party and individual selfish ends ?
Will it not be a mean and undesirable act on the part of BJP led by NaMo to cover up wrong doings, anti-public programmes and policies ?
It portrays BJP in very poor light as well as plight ! The cat is ultimately out of the bag as there is a yawning gap between saying and doing ! Is it not ?
The national mood in the early nineties was different. In the manifesto for 2014, the Ram Mandir merited a brief paragraph, reiterating a commitment to construct it within the framework of law. Not sure if it is nationally so powerfully emotive that a general election can be won on it.
