Operation Sindoor is a series of missile attacks by Indian armed forces on nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK in the early hours of 7 May 2025 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM on 7 May, 2025, Indian armed forces struck 9 terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok). This included the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke and Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur. In a statement, the Indian government said its actions were “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature” and that “no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted”.
Underlining the Pakistan link to the Pahalgam attack, the statement said India is “living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable”.
Pakistan reacted to the precision strikes by sending in drone swarms into Indian border states, and launching missiles on military and civilian infrastructure in India. Indian armed forces responded by striking airbases in Pakistan. On 10 May, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called his Indian counterpart and the two agreed on an understanding to cease all military hostilities starting 5 pm that day.
India is in the western orbit not the chinese or russian orbit. Most Indians are still living in 1971. And govt is making no effort to shatter this uninformed public opinion because of fear of losing elections.
Why blame BJP for talking of Pakistan? BJP speaks what sells. You also make episodes on Pakistan, because it sells.
The rural Indian who sends most to the military, does see the world as pro-Pakistan vs pro-India.
That’s why despite good relations with US, many Indians unconditionally support Russia, because they sent submarines to block US in 1971. Todays, realities are more complex.
BJP understands what sells. So, do you.
We need to educate the rural Indian on today’s nuances.
Why would China not wish to have better relations with India. Its economy is well positioned to harvest gains in terms of trade and investment opportunities as India’s GDP grows.
How convenient it would be for a US President to plan a five day visit to South Asia, three days in India, one each in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Our preventing them from doing so reflects not strength but insecurity.
Let me play Devil’s advocate. Ask all of India’s neighbours, not just Pakistan, Are you happy with your larger than life neighbour. We should listen to the governments and also their people. Indian diplomats often claim that we enjoy certain cultural and other linkages in South Asia that China cannot match, despite its much larger economy. So that should be reflected in most South Asians having good feelings about India.
