I have long given up watching both kolly & bolly movies . Several reasons. I am a senior citizen. I was in Kolkata then when the newspaper announced this movie has won National award. I was leaving Kolkata that same morning. While deciding what movie to watch in the aircraft I came across this movie.
To start with the main reason I wanted to watch was Nina Gupta. I have also seen her in many tv serials & some movies. And I know how talented she is.
One particular Kathasagar ( various short stories of Tolstoy , Maupassant etc etc turned into Indianized episodes ) of Nina Gupta & Achala Sengupta called ”Lucy Amma” is still indelible in my mind. Such was their moving performances. Wo Chokri is another noteworthy movie of Nina Gupta.
This role is a cakewalk for her.
Whereas it is Sheeba Chaddha who in my opinion deserves all credit. Sanya Malhotra playing her daughter is also quite good. I have never known her name all these days. I have seen her face in various movies while switching channels. She is very versatile & talented. However in this particular movie the role played by Sheeba Chaddha is quite dicey. Alcohol drinking etc etc …..someone conservative like me would have ignored her altogether. But I could NOT. After coming home searched the Internet to know her name. Her acting is just ssso perfect & good I would want to watch it again ONLY to see Sheeba Chaddha . When Ayushman Khurana says all those dialogues Sheeba Chaddha does not become crestfallen ; she shows the right amount of various shades of regret etc etc but retains her dignity. Sanya Malhotra is also good. Later when ayushman comes making peace Sheeba Chaddha is the same woman her dignity intact.
I meant Achala Sachdev . Not any sengupta.
