India’s industrial output growth saw a 10-month low in June, with Index of Industrial Production (IIP) growing by mere 1.5% as against 1.9% in May 2025.
Standing up to America is usually not a personal risk for a leader in India. Any suggestions of foreign pressure unites India behind who they see as leading them in that fight.
If it does not pay for itself, it cannot / should not be built. After the recent splurge on infrastructure, which has damaged the banking system – some would say irrevocably, at least in terms of government ownership – we need to be mindful of economic viability for each project. India leaves little fiscal space for creation of infrastructure out of normal budgetary provisions, which is how, historically, most of it has got built. 2. User charges, starting with power for farmers, are almost entirely driven by politics, not economics. If this issue is not resolved, our infrastructure sector will limp along.
